Not Normal

My husband came home on Monday with our gifts for this year’s Birthday Ball.

I had asked for a shelf to be put up in our hallway to put these gifts on display and my husband told me no. The reasoning behind this no was that he did not want to do that at this house as if we were leaving soon. Keyword is the as if part of that sentence. We will more than likely be leaving soon but there is no such thing in plan yet. So why not hang the dang shelf?

There is no more work to be done in our house, no change to be done, no new to be bought because of the possibility of a move.

I understand his no and I am not complaining that he said no. I wouldn’t want to work on a shelf to only have to take it down to put up somewhere else.

But this is our life. This is something that we are going to have to do a lot.

When do we accept this as normal? When do we accept that constant work is okay? When do we get some kind of system down for this?

Life in the military is not normal. Little things like this serve as a reminder why it is not. I am about to resign the lease on our apartment but I cannot hang a shelf. We are still living in this house but this house is “done”. Best believe the first thing to be done at our next house is this shelf. Just to make a point. So, I stay looking at Pinterest planning for our next home while sitting in our current home.

Again, I am not complaining. I love my life and wouldn’t change it for the world. All I am doing is simply sharing and explaining my life.signATURE

October’s Glam Bag

Hi everyone! It is another Ipsy review.

October is almost over meaning Halloween is just around the corner! Are you ready?

Like every other year so far, I do not have my costume planned out. So, another last minute costume for me!

This month’s Glam Bag has a “Black Magic” Halloween theme which I am loving. If you are not familiar with this beauty subscription you can check out my review here.

The bag,

Seriously, how cute is this?! This will for sure be in my purse for the rest of the month. I love the little pictures. The little ghost with the heart eyes is so cute. The little details are doing something for me. The zipper for the bag even has a ghost on it. Perfectly spooky glam bag.

Ipsy Glam Bag

theBalm Cosmetics, CabanaBoy Blush

The perfect color for fall! It is a deep maroon color. Goes on great and stays all day. The packaging though… it is a little small square that my brush has some issues getting the product out.

Ciate London, Fierce Flicks Eyeliner

My favorite type of liner is a felt tipped liner so I love this. It is a dark black and dries perfectly. I usually use the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and this is very much like that. The felt tip is a little bit longer and tapered to give a nice flick for a winged out liner.

Pure Brazilian, Leave in Miracle

I have been on a kick for leave in conditioners because I have started to take showers at night. This one has been working for me. My hair is so soft and does not tangle during the night.

Lottie London, Perfectly Precise Eyeshadow Brush

Just another brush for me BUT I love the color. That is probably the other good thing about Ipsy is that they send brushes. I refuse to spend money on brushes. I am pretty sure all the brushes I own have came from Ipsy.

tre’Stique, Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux

It is a little sheer and buttery but the color is great for fall. The color is almost similar to the blush above. I like to stick to mainly the liquid lipstick but this could be used a good top coat for one.

{left to right}

Blush, lipstick, eyeliner

I cannot wait for next month’s bag! What did you get in your bag this month? See you next month!

Also, do not forget about Ipsy offers!

The perfect gift for him

Trying to find the perfect inexpensive gift for men is the hardest thing that you will probably do this holiday season. You can ask but they won’t tell you or they nicely plead for nothing. I have found such gift that I am sure any guy would appreciate. I hope this works out for the ladies searching.

It a wallet insert!

the perfect gift for him

I wanted to get Jonathan something very different for our one year anniversary. I wanted it to be something manly enough that he would want to carry it with him which seemed impossible. Looking through the internet I found the perfect gift. I really do not think I will ever find a better gift for him.  I found it on Etsy. It is a copper wallet insert with a special message engraved on it. The message is “come home babe” because this is something that I would tell him almost every day when we were living apart. For the Fault in the Stars fans this was our “okay”. He can look in his wallet and see this knowing that I am at home waiting for him always. It is also manly enough for him that he has been carrying it with him for over two years now.

Sunday Thoughts, October 9th

I know I have not been at this very long BUT whatever just go with it.

Blogging is such a fun learning experience about yourself.

I have been complimented by so many about my writing and I sit there and laugh waiting for the punch line to their joke. None of them were joking and now I have let it all go to my head. Thanks guys. In all seriousness, you all are just fueling me to want to write about everything and giving me the confidence to do so. I cannot wait for everyone to read what exactly goes on this pretty little head of mine, Stay tuned.

Regardless of my lack of creativity I knew that I wanted this to be a DIY blog when I first started out. I have since studied and practiced my hand at being creative. I can almost now pick something up and turn it into exactly what I wanted. This has been fun. The other day I was staring at my bin of supplies and whooped myself up a fall banner in a matter of twenty minutes. That is crazy. This blogging has really taught me how to be crafty.

My blog has also been a mix up of a lifestyle blog, so they say. This basically means that I will post my thoughts and feelings on this blog. This has been something that I was more afraid of then just the crafts. This is me putting myself out there which is something that I do not do. I am a very keep to myself person. With this blog I have learned how to separate the thoughts of feelings that should or should not be shared. The thoughts and feelings that are shared are very filtered but still made for a good post. Blogging can be a little bit of work.

I am a business major and this is kind of like running a business. You have to do all the marketing, keep up with what the people want, and put out the goods (posts) in a timely manner. It has now given me the confidence to start up a business which is something that is in the works. The feedback that I have been receiving and the knowledge that I have gained from blogging has fueled me to want to start up an Etsy shop. We will see how that goes.

What is the point of this post?

This is just an update from my behind the name. My husband told me to get a hobby a couple months ago and this what was chosen for it. I knew nothing about blogging. I had no idea what the outcome would be. So far it has been very positive. People are actually enjoying what I have to say. Crazy!

To those that want to blog,

Do it. Just try it out.

10 Perks of Getting Married Young

I married my husband at the age of twenty-two.

Big whoop.

I married young because there were two lives that needed to be meshed together for eternity. His and mine. I did not want to miss another minute of his life and he did not want to miss another one of mine. Listed below are ten what I think perks of getting married at such a young age.

  1. My search for Mr. Right is over.
    • I get to skip the terrible years of dating those that just do not fit the part. My heart does not have to break every few months with a fall out of someone that never really mattered. My memories are only filled with one really great guy. I found my Mr. Right early on and now I can focus on the other important parts of life with him.
  2. Friday nights are easy.
    • Being in love with your best friend allows you to have the time of your life while staying in and eating ice cream for dinner or going for a night out in town. Yes, we can still have an enjoyable time at a bar on a Friday night. That can happen. Some will say that I am missing out on life for getting married young but those same people are out looking for what I already have.
  3. I get to grow up with him.
    • We entered adulthood together with the ultimate commitment. We are learning about each other while still finding out about ourselves and because of this we will only be more in sync with each other. Every single milestone and achievement will be gone through together with our hands intertwined. We get to work together to be the best kind of people for each other.
  4. I learned how to be beautiful.
    • I see myself through the eyes of someone that loves me with all his heart. I have learned how to be comfortable in my own skin. I do not have to worry about always being put together because I have someone that will tell me that I am gorgeous when I’m on three hours of sleep with smeared makeup and messy hair.
  5. Our marriage is our routine.
    • He is all that I know of. There are no previous marriages or prior commitments to work around. We did not have other routines that needed to be adjusted to make room for each other. It was just and always will be me and him. We create our own little routine that will work for our marriage with ease.
  6. There are no secrets.
    • Knowing someone for ten years allows you to know almost everything about that person. There is no surprise popping up six months into your marriage to throw you off. We did not have the time to go out and do stupid stuff that we would not want to bring into a marriage. There is nothing to hide. I know exactly the kind of person that I have chosen to marry. So, when they try to say that they used to work at a zoo you can stop them in their tracks because you know that they worked at the restaurant at the zoo.
  7. I learned how to enjoy the little things.
    • Getting married early you learn that love is not a rom-com and extravagant things do not happen on the daily. Because of this I have gained an appreciation for the little things. I have my person to sing my girly songs with during our car rides and someone to dance with me barefoot in the kitchen as we wait for the water to boil. He does not come home with flowers weekly but will pull over the car and pick me a rose from the rose fields every time we pass one.
  8. I have gained the strongest support system
    • We both have schooling to get through and job opportunities to climb so as twenty something year olds we could use a support system like marriage. When I come home late at night stressed out from school or when he comes home stressed from work we are their at home waiting for each other. Going through life’s challenges are a lot easier with someone you love by your side. In the worst times and the good times we will always have each other.
  9. I started my life with him at twenty two.
    • Just being married regardless of age comes plenty of responsibilities. But they come rushing at you when you get married young. At such young age you learn how to put someone before you and how to take care of your home. From buying decent furniture to making sure there is dinner served every night. Learning how to accommodate to such rush is a blessing in disguise. I can start on the important things of life early on with patience. We are nowhere close to being old so we have all the time in the world.
  10. I get to prove you wrong.
    • Getting married young is looked at differently then someone getting married in their thirties and because of this people will have their doubts. Every smile, kiss, and picture representing our happy marriage is just proving every single one of them wrong. Getting married young works and here we are proving you wrong. See you all at our sixtieth anniversary.

The list could go on and on with the more I think about this post.

Getting married young is a thing. It is okay. It is a choice that is made between two people and I can unsure you that your outside comments and doubts will not change their minds. Be supportive and give them the fuel for a long successful marriage.

I know I haven’t been married long but trust me.

Sunday Thoughts, October 2nd

The sermon from last Sunday has been something that has been on my mind a lot lately.

Towards the end of that sermon our pastor mentioned that he woke up that morning with a feeling that people of his church are in some kind of battle. A battle of addiction, grief, loss, or anything in that nature. He then asked for those that are battling with some kind of emotional or physical battle to stand up so him, along with everyone else in the church, can pray for them. Jonathan, eighty percent of the attendees, and I all stood up. I was not expecting that many people to be standing up with me. I almost did not want to stand up because I thought I would be the only one. Boy, was I wrong. It even took the pastor by surprise. So instead, we all joined hands and prayed together.

That Sunday I stood up and confessed to an open public that I am in some kind of battle. It was a tension that was released. After that I have never felt more comfortable in a church. This is a new church for me and we do not know that many people within it yet. They have all showed me that they are along side me with a battle. It also taught me that no matter how big and important I think my battle is there is someone sitting next to me with one as well.

After that Sunday I had one of the best weeks after a long time. I see the light at the end of the tunnel of this battle that I am in and feel very optimistic for my future. That was the kind of church service that was needed for me and I am very thankful for it.

They played a song right after this prayer and I cannot stop listening to it.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly trust in Jesus name
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly trust in Jesus name
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour’s love through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all
When Darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace, in every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil, my anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all
He is Lord, Lord of all
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour’s love through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour’s love through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all
When He shall come with trumpet sound, oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless stand before the throne.

Holiday Season Challenge

For the next three months I want you to write one positive thing that happened to you on that day. You do not have to write a lengthy story but just a couple words or a sentence will do. The point of this is to get you to reflect on the positive of your day. So maybe it was something you saw, something that made you laugh, an event, a scripture, a song, or simply the weather. Whatever it was, write it down. The end of the holiday season you will have three months worth of positivity written down to remember.

The next three months can be stressful and hectic for everyone but that is not how it is supposed to be. Use this as a reminder to see the good in every day and this holiday season. The holiday season should be a pleasant time to sit back and count your blessings and not for standing in a long line angry for no good reason. The children will get there toys and dinner will be served.

Take a breath and slow down this holiday season.

Below are three sheets that I have provided for this challenge. Right click to save the picture and print them off.

You can hang them up or just keep them in the top drawer of your nightstand.
